More broadly, Blanche Gardin explains that her refusal to participate in “LOL: who laughs, comes out!” is justified by several practices that it attributes to the multinational Amazon.
In her publication, she thus denounces the fact that the company owned by Jeff Bezos “does not pay its taxes in France”, that it emits “55.8 million tonnes of greenhouse gases per year”, that it “uses labor from Uyghur concentration camps” or that “the jobs it creates by destroying others are grueling jobs in dehumanized warehouses”.
“All this for what? So that we can order cheap diapers from our sofa,” she continues.
The threat of platforms for cinema
Finally, Blanche Gardin believes that participating in a program broadcast on a streaming platform would be like “shooting yourself in the foot”.
