Young man reportedly stabbed his parents after argument at Bethesda residence

A 24-year-old man is in custody for allegedly assaulting his parents Monday night in Bethesda, Maryland, police said.

The assault occurred inside a home in the 6500 block of Greentree Road just before midnight, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

According to the initial investigation, the dispute was between the young man and his parents. The son allegedly stabbed his parents with a knife when the argument escalated.

The parents were taken to the hospital without risk of life, but with serious injuries.

Their identities were not immediately released.

There was a large police presence at the scene overnight that included a drone and the Montgomery County Special Response Team. At least one officer had a gun pointed toward the house.

The investigation continued Monday morning. The police indicated that there is no entrenchment situation and that the area is safe.
