The SC Admira Dornbirn invited to the Julius Ritter commemorative junior tournament in the exhibition hall.

Dornbirn. “Finally playing in front of a big audience again” was the motto of this year’s junior tournament of SC Admira Dornbirn. And the young football heroes delivered correspondingly exciting and passionate football sport, which caused a lot of applause and thrills in the well-attended spectator stands.

Teams from home and abroad

Last weekend, the Admirans invited to their traditional Julius Ritter commemorative youth tournament, in which the focus was clearly on the youth. Believe it or not, 84 teams showed youth football at its best over two days. “We are very happy to welcome teams from Germany and Switzerland again and would like to thank the numerous volunteers and sponsors for their great support, above all the Dornbirner Sparkasse, who once again made this great event for the football youth possible,” emphasized SC Admira junior manager Leopold Arnus.

The games were played on Saturday and Sunday in the age groups U7 to U14 and a delegation of veterans also did the honors on Saturday evening and ensured the best atmosphere in the ball sports hall in the exhibition area. While the younger teams were still all about having fun in the sport, the teams from U9 and up showed a lot of ambition and hotly contested duels in order to secure the coveted winner’s trophy. The organizers also came up with a special surprise: the top scorer in each age group was awarded an extra trophy.

As always, the Admira family also showed perfect cohesion in the organization. The well-rehearsed catering team spoiled the athletes and visitors with culinary delights, and club members and players of the fighting team acted on and off the field as referees, commentators, etc.

In the end, the happy winners of the tournament were SG Wolfurt/Kennelbach (U9), SCR Altach (U10), FC Höchst (U11), SC Austria Lustenau (U12), SV Frastanz (U13), SPG Hofsteig (U14) and the AH FC Schwarzenberg. Viktoria Bregenz also had reason to celebrate. The Bregenzers took part in the U9 with an all-girls team. In the end, they were able to take the excellent third place in their age group and thus did the best advertising for women’s football. (cth)
