Another 50 pro-Palestinian protesters arrested

A new demonstration in favor of the Palestinian people toured the streets of Manhattan last night.

At least 50 protesters were arrested among the hundreds who marched.

The protests began in Union Square, then the group walked to the Public Library in Bryant Park, before heading to the Fashion Institute of Technology in Chelsea.

Police ordered them to get onto the sidewalk, or risk arrest.

Organizers told us they continue to protest because they condemn what they call Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people and call for an immediate ceasefire.

These protests come after Hamas has accepted an agreement for a ceasefire in the war with Israel, but Israel continues to evaluate.

Yesterday marked seven months since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Separately, some New Yorkers with Israeli flags gathered in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday night in Riverside Park on the Upper West Side.

This time it was done in response to recent protests on college campuses, especially with the situation at Columbia University, which was the focus of many of the speeches given.

Demonstration organizers said they support Jewish students at Columbia, and the challenges some say they are facing when it comes to feeling safe on campus.
