10 best-selling cars in Brazil in April 2023

The fight between the Hyundai HB20 and the Chevrolet Onix to see which car is the best selling in Brazil in 2023 is still intense. After losing first place in March, Chevrolet’s hatchback overtook its South Korean rival and ended April at the top of the list.

The Chevrolet Onix registered 7,376 units in the last month and was ahead of the Hyundai HB20, in second place with 7,143 cars sold. The period’s performance also served to increase the distance between the GM model and its rival in the accumulated result for the year.

The Onix hatch is the best-selling car in Brazil between January and April, with 28,902 units registered against 23,337 for the Hyundai HB20. Among them is the Chevrolet Onix Plus, a sedan that has already registered 23,686 registrations in the year.

The third place among the best-selling cars in Brazil in April was once again with the Volkswagen Polo. The Gol heir repeated the March performance and, with 6,063 units sold, closed the podium for the period.

Top 5 without SUVs for the 1st time in the year

The top 5 best-selling cars in Brazil in April also recorded a curiosity: for the first time in 2023 an SUV was not among the 5 most licensed in the country. The 4th position was taken by the Fiat Argo and the 5th by the Chevrolet Onix Plus, which sold 5,475 and 5,295 new units, respectively.

In the first three months of the year, Chevrolet Tracker, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass represented the SUV segment in the first half of the table among the best-selling cars in Brazil.

In April, the best-placed SUV in the ranking was the Jeep Compass, which closed the period in 6th place, with 4,898. The top 10 also featured other SUVs: Honda HR-V (7th), Hyundai Creta (9th) and Volkswagen T-Cross (10th). The Mobi, Fiat’s hatch, completed the list in 8th position.
