2024 visa lottery to the United States: step by step to find out if you were selected

Peru is one of the several countries that has the possibility of being part of the long-awaited Program of Diversity Visas DV-2024, commonly known as the visa lottery. The other South American nations that also appear as participants are Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay. Trying your luck in this system is, in other words, a lottery. Many are the citizens who dream of being among those selected.

It is known that the Department of State of the USA publishes a single list of countries eligible to participate in this so-called visa lottery. The list is based on the levels of immigration of each country in the last five years.

In accordance with the guidelines of the program, the beneficiary is granted a series of facilities to migrate to North American lands, such as permanent residence and, in the future, possibly US citizenship.

That fiscal year the United States will deliver 55,000 legal permanent residence visas, or Green Cards or Green Cards.

More than 11 million citizens of the countries that participate in this program USA included in your list and have submitted their application for free on the corresponding digital site. Of that total, only 55,000 people will emerge victorious.

To qualify for the draw for the Green card either Green Card, Citizens must also have at least a secondary education and have work experience. The winners will be selected by means of a computerized random draw, to avoid speculation of possible fraud.

This year 2024, like the previous one, the countries of Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela were left off the list.

Before explaining the step by step to find out if you were selected and will be part of one of those 55 thousand beneficiaries, it is important to be very clear that you will never be notified by phone, email or WhatsApp message, if you were chosen for the program Diversity Visas.

-The results will be available from noon next Saturday, May 6 on the website dvprogram.state.gov. You must enter with the confirmation data that was given at the time of registration.

-Participants DV-2024 they must retain their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2024.

-If you were chosen to obtain the green card, you will need to file an application for permanent residence using form DS-260 and start preparing for the interview. All those selected must go to reside in the United States.

-If you have been selected, you will be redirected to a confirmation page with further instructions, including information on fees related to immigration to the United States.

-To complete the process, those chosen must be admissible to the United States by completing the Electronic Application for Immigrant Visa (DS-260) and the Registry of Foreigners by electronic means.

-Then you will be summoned to an in-person interview, in which you will be asked questions about admissibility to immigrate, including issues related to crime and security.

-All those selected, including family members, must receive visas before September 30, 2024.
