The United States Army has reported this Tuesday that 22 soldiers were injured last Sunday after a helicopter crash in northeastern Syria.

The Central Command of the United States (CENTCOM) has indicated that the wounded present different types of seriousness and that they are receiving medical treatment. At least ten of them have been evacuated to higher care centers outside military installations.

The cause of the incident is under investigation, although no enemy fire has been reported, according to a statement published by CENTCOM.

US troops in Syria are conducting joint operations with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), whose main member is the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia, linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The SDF announced on March 23, 2019 the capture of Baghuz and the fall of the so-called territorial caliphate of the Islamic State, although the group has increased its attacks in recent months, especially in the triangle between the provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Raqqa.
