3-year-old boy escapes from his crib and goes on a trip to McDonald's alone

A 3-year-old boy woke up from his nap and decided to go on a field trip to McDonald’s by himself.

Hard to believe?… Right? As it turns out, a family nap took a terrifying turn.

Marissa Phiffer, mother of 3-year-old twins Aiden and Aleiya, shares this event in a now-viral video on Tik Tok.

“I was sleeping on the floor right next to their cribs,” Phiffer, 23, tells TODAY.com. What can go wrong? Turns out a lot. When Phiffer woke up, Aiden was gone, as was his shoe.

“He was not at home. He wasn’t in the basement. He wasn’t in the front yard and he wasn’t in the backyard,” Phiffer says in his TikTok clip. At this point, she was starting to panic. Where could Aiden be?

Terrified, Phiffer called 911 to report her son missing.

“I really started to get nervous when I wasn’t in our neighbor’s yard. I thought that’s where I would find it. They have a lot of rocks and he likes to line them up and play with them,” Phiffer said.

Phiffer says that the police arrived quickly and showed him a photograph. He was Aiden and he was safe and sound at a McDonald’s across the street from his house in Wisconsin.

A good Samaritan alerted authorities to a boy wandering alone, the twins’ mother said.

The order cost Barrett’s mother $91, who also left the driver a $16 tip.

“We run in and he’s like, ‘Hey, Mom!'” Meanwhile, Phiffer was too relieved to be angry.

When Phiffer asked Aiden why she did it, she says the boy replied, “I was hungry.”

“I almost bought him a Happy Meal, but I was embarrassed,” she said. “I just wanted to get out of there.”

After that big scare, Phiffer has installed child-proof locks and latches on the doors to prevent it from happening again.
