66-5 : Is the series based on real criminal cases?
“Yes !” confirms co-writer Anne Landois, “I worked with Clarisse Serre, who is a criminal lawyer, and was already my consultant on Engrenages. I followed her in different hearings, notably those at the Bobigny court. Immediate appearances, above all, because it is very lively and very particular“It is also from the bond of friendship that was forged between Anne Landois and Clarisse that the idea of fiction was born.”When I came out of confinement, Clarisse told me that she had something that might interest me. It was a story of unclear infiltration, with police officers who had obviously cheated a little. All the defendants were under judicial supervision and were in the room, so I both attended the hearing, which is the main theme of the series, and I spoke a lot with the traffickers. Two of them became my consultants“.

66-5 : Why did the series set its heroine in Bobigny?
The suburb where the heroine comes from, Bobigny is at the center of the series. A choice that was carefully considered by the authors. “The idea for the 93 was already there from the start.”, confirms Anne Landois, “Danielle (Danielle Arbid, the director, Editor’s note) had said from the start that she wanted to film this suburb as if we were in Marseille. It was summer, there was beautiful light. We tried to tell the very community aspect, but in the good sense of the word, this very open side, showing life outside. We also wanted to break the codes of Engrenages which was presented as a much darker series. The idea with 66-5 was to move towards more heat, more confrontations, shouting matches, to arrive at something quite joyful, lively, and family-friendly..”
