New beginning for Otis, Eric, Aimee and the others in season 4 of Sex Education, available on Netflix. For this last season, the students join a new high school: Cavendish. But does it really exist and why such a change? Here is the answer.
All good things must come to an end, even Sex Education ! Launched in 2019 on Netflix, the series which evokes sex without taboos and is good for adolescents and adults comes to an end with its season 4, released online on September 21. The opportunity to say goodbye to the characters, but also to get a change of scenery. While Maeve (Emma Mackey) has left for the United States, the students of Moordale High School which closed its doors at the end of season 3 must find their feet in a brand new establishment. A change which also causes numerous departures within the casting. Why do Otis, Eric and the others change schools in season 4 of Sex Education ?
This season 4 of Sex Education will be that of new products for our favorite students. Remember, Moordale High School closed at the end of season 3. During the third salvo, the new principal Hope (Jemima Kirke) did everything to save the image of the establishment, in vain. While investors were to carry out renovation work, the attitude of the students jeopardized the project, forcing the city to sell the high school to real estate developers. An explanation which is quite close to what happened away from the cameras. The scenes at the high school were filmed at a former university (more precisely on the former campus of the University of South Wales in Caerleon, which closed in 2015 due to lack of students). The locations were sold to promoters, forcing the series to change filming locations.
Sex Education : does Cavendish high school really exist?
If the previous seasons were filmed in an old university, the location that was used for filming for Cavendish High School is not a school. The exterior scenes show a modern building, which you can still visit if you are passing through Cardiff: it is the St Fagans National Museum of History. This open-air museum allows visitors to immerse themselves in the culture and history of Wales. The building seen in the series is actually the main entrance to the museum. Built in the 1970s, it also houses the administrative offices of the place.
