Party mood in Liverpool!

On Thursday evening the second semi-final of the 67. Eurovision Song Contest across the stage. From shrill to dark everything was there.

Not every act wanted to do without spectacular pyro effects. Only ten out of 16 countries were able to advance. A young singer from Poland was THE eye-catcher.

The hopes of our neighboring country are on Blanka (23), who obviously did not want to rely solely on her voice. For the song “Solo” she put on a wild performance with dancers, even had her dress ripped off in the middle of the performance and whirled across the stage in a tight glitter fumble.

The participation of the ex-candidate from “Poland’s Next Topmodel” had caused heated discussions in advance when she won the preliminary round in her home country. The jury was accused of manipulation.

Blanka’s performance was well received in Liverpool. Although her singing sounded rather thin, the dance performances were all the more impressive. She made it to the final.

These acts will also be there on Saturday evening.

The Belgian act Gustaph (43) had a retro feeling. Its number “Because Of You” was reminiscent of the sound of the hits by the pop band Simply Red around frontman Mick Hucknall (62). Singer Gustaph, who likes to wear flashy hats, was joined by three backing singers who almost stole the show. His song was pure soul power!

These five young gentlemen made women’s hearts beat faster. Joker Out from Slovenia brought the hall to the boil with the finest indie pop. The quintet was already ennobled in 2020 when music legend Elvis Costello (68) recorded a song with the band. In Liverpool they thrilled with their number “Carpe Diem” and made it to the final as the last act.

The Australians from Voyager could cost our rocker voices from “Lord of the Lost”, because the export from Down Under also takes a harder musical gait. Her pop metal song “Promise” could stand a good chance.

► These countries also made it: Albania, Cyprus, Estonia, Austria, Lithuania and Armenia.

Other acts tried their best and still didn’t get any further. Victor Vernicos (16) from Greece swept across the stage in a ranger outfit for “What That Say”. But for his voice the hopping was more of a disadvantage. The young singer muddled many notes. He was the youngest participant at the ESC this year.

Musician Diljá (21) from Iceland made her contribution “Power” to the program. She lay on the stage in places, then threw her legs in the air. A performance that was almost reminiscent of expressive dance. Unfortunately, the song didn’t stay in my head. She too had to go home.
