Success for many decades, horror films conquered several generations and brought characters that were marked in the memory of many people. An example of this is that, when hearing the phrase “I see dead people”, we immediately remember the famous little boy from The sixth Sensefilms by M. Night Shyamalan.
But, after so much time, how is he today? It is with this question in mind that the Canaltech listed 7 kids who made horror movies to show where they are today.
7. Daveigh Chase (The Called)
After being successful as the famous Samara from the saga of The call At the age of 12, Daveigh Chase tried to achieve other successes in the audiovisual sector, but he was not very successful and his career ended quickly.
As an adult, she faced some problems with the law in 2017, when she was investigated after she abandoned a young man in a hospital and then left. In November of that same year, she was arrested after driving a stolen BMW at high speed.
Today, she no longer works as an actress and now keeps her hair blonde.
6. Linda Blair (The Exorcist)
It is impossible to talk about children who made horror movies without mentioning the character Regan MacNeil from The Exorcist. Lived by Linda Blair, the little girl was possessed by a demon and turned her head 360º, scaring viewers.
After the first film, Linda reprized her role in The Exorcist II: The Heretic and also participated in other productions such as Wild Streets, Chains of Hell e hellish night. Today, over 60 years old, she still works as an actress, although she has appeared less frequently in audiovisual.
5. Isabelle Fuhrman (The Orphan)
Who watched the movie The orphanin 2009, was certainly amazed by the 12-year-old girl who gave life to Esther, a 33-year-old psychopath who, due to her physical condition, posed as a child to torment people’s lives.
The actress who gave life to the unforgettable character was Isabelle Fuhrman, who, in addition to the feature, collected titles such as The Last Thing Mary Saw, A Novata e Escape Room 2: Maximum Voltage.
In 2022, Isabelle returned to play the psychopath in the prequel The Orphan: The Originbut since she was already grown up, her co-stars had to wear platform shoes so that she looked shorter and still had the appearance of a child.
4. Lisa and Louise Burns (The Shining)
Among the main children who made horror films are Lisa and Louise Burns, two sisters who lived the Grady twins in The illuminatedfilm by Stanley Kubrick based on the book of the same name by Stephen King.
At the age of 11, at the time, they had already acted in a children’s series called Kids, but, after the famous feature film, they decided not to continue with their artistic career. Over the years, Louise has become a respected scientist with several published papers. Lisa, on the other hand, dedicated herself to law.
3. Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense)
Anyone who likes horror movies has certainly seen, or at least heard of, the famous little boy from The sixth Sense who claimed to see dead people. The character was named Cole and was played by Haley Joel Osment, who at the time was 11 years old.
After starring in the hit film, Haley continued acting and appeared in films such as The Chain of Good, AI: Artificial Intelligence, Forrest Gump e War angels. For Disney, he worked as a voice actor in the feature films The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 e Mowgli the Wolf Boy.
When he was older, he starred in productions such as Montana Amazon (2012), Tusk: The Transformation (2014), Sex Ed (2014), Entourage: Fame and Friendship (2015), almost friends (2016), among others.
His last works were in the long Somebody I used to knowfrom 2023, and in the audiobook Blood Weedalso from the same year.
2. Macaulay Culkin (The Evil Angel)
Known for starring in one of the most successful comedy franchises of all time (They forgot me), Macaulay Culkin also had his moment to shine in horror films. In 1993, he played Henry in the evil angelby director Joseph Ruben.
In the plot, he was a psychopathic boy who planned the death of his own mother and sister. With an angelic face, Culkin convinced the role and pleased the audience. Years later, he would still star in other productions such as Galera do Mau, Sex and Breakfast, Entergalacticamong others.
In his personal life, the actor faced some problems with the law. In 2004, he was arrested in Oklahoma City for possession of marijuana and two controlled substances: Alprazolam and Clonazepam.
In 2019, however, he married actress Brenda Song, with whom he had a daughter named Dakota — a name given in honor of his sister who died in a hit-and-run.
His last major role was in the tenth season of American Horror Storylike the character Mickey.
1. Alex Vincent (Chucky: Child’s Play)
Still talking about children who made horror movies, but changing the focus from the villain to the victim, actor Alex Vincent played Andy in the franchise. Chucky when he was just five years old. The feature films established themselves as a success in the 1990s and won over many fans.
After the films, Alex took a break from his artistic career and went back to school, trying to remain as anonymous as possible. He graduated from high school in 1999 and studied Sound Engineering at university.
In 2008, however, he returned to audiovisual acting in independent terror. Dead Country and in other low-budget films like On The Ropes (2011) e House Guest Massacre (2013).
It wasn’t until 2013, however, that he reprized his role as Andy — now an adult — in the film The curse of Chucky and subsequently in The Cult of Chucky2017. He also participated in the series Chucky em 2021.
