About 70% of workers would delegate tasks to artificial intelligence to lighten their workload, found a survey conducted by Microsoft. Published this Tuesday (9), data from the Annual Work Trend Index show that most employees feel overwhelmed with a lack of time and energy to deal with the pace of routine.

The survey surveyed nearly 31,000 workers in 31 countries and compared the responses with productivity statistics obtained from Microsoft 365 suite software to identify “how AI will shape the future of work”.

The survey concluded that:

  • 64% of workers lack the time and energy to complete their tasks as the pace of work and information flow accelerates;
  • 68% of respondents are unable to have uninterrupted concentration time to focus on tasks during office hours;
  • 60% of leaders surveyed are concerned about a lack of innovation in their line of work.

Solution: artificial intelligence

As an alternative to a lack of time and innovation within the workplace, Swiss employers and managers are interested in empowering employees with AI-powered tools rather than replacing them. “Swiss managers are 1.5 times more likely to say they want to increase productivity with AI rather than reducing headcount, and employees know what they get out of it,” points out the Microsoft report.

And the idea isn’t even that out of the box for workers: 70% of respondents say they would delegate as much work to artificial intelligence as possible in order to have a smaller workload. Most of them are predisposed not only to share administrative tasks with machines, but also analytical (79%) and creative (73%) that make up their positions. In Brazil, 88% would use AI in analytical tasks and 82% in creative ones.

“Data shows the clear need to separate the message from the noise and make meetings more effective, creative and practice-oriented. And in a world where creativity is the new productivity, digital debt is more than ever an inconvenience, it is a threat to innovation,” pointed out Microsoft’s corporate vice president, Jared Spataro, in the study’s presentation video.

AI requires training

However, the use of artificial intelligence would not be for nothing. Approximately 82% of employers understand that they need to hire employees prepared for the evolution of tools with the advanced models.

Despite being necessary, human intervention will still be necessary in a job market full of artificial intelligence. Analysis capabilities, resilience and human emotional intelligence are considered essential by the workers interviewed by MS.
