NEW YORK — The Suffolk County Department of Public Works Division of Vector Control on Long Island plans to treat parts of several wetlands by helicopter to control mosquito larvae. In the event that weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will continue on the next suitable day.
The process will be carried out with a helicopter from July 5 to 8 between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm The team will use the pesticide VectoPrime FG and Altosid.

What products are used
The team will use the pesticide VectoPrime FG and Altosid. Products used by Vector Control are registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and are applied in accordance with required state and federal permits.
I should take some precaution
It is not recommended to take precautions to prepare for this spraying, as the helicopter will fly at a very low level over swampy areas and take other precautions to control drift into inhabited areas. Human exposure from this operation is unlikely and the products involved do not have significant human toxicity.
