A tragic start to Sunday for a West Little River family left with one relative dead and the other facing charges in the stabbing death of their godfather.
According to relatives of the victim, everything started on Saturday night with an altercation between the deceased and his godson, whom the police took out of the house after an argument over an apparent debt of money, but the man supposedly returned this morning and fatally stabbed his godfather.
“I felt my body trembling… my husband, who is like his son (is) sick… we still don’t believe it,” says Arianna Rodríguez, a relative of the victim.
This is hard news to believe, after the police informed this morning that Nelson Morales, as his loved ones identified him, had been fatally stabbed by an acquaintance.
“The boy fell behind and stabbed him and then he fell there… it seems that a boy came in defense but he was already dead on the floor,” Rodríguez admits.
According to the Miami-Dade County uniform, the incident occurred shortly after 8:00 in the morning in the area of Northwest 31st Avenue and 92nd Street in Miami, where the authorities had arrived the night before to attend a emergency call in the same place.
“We were here with him… what happened is that the murderer stole some money from his house because he lived there, he had put him up at his house. He stole some money from her and he realized… he had been watching over him for days. They were arguing, I send him some messages and they called the police and the police came. The police said that he could not enter the property,” says the victim’s relative.
Officials said that an adult man was detained and that they remained investigating the scene for hours … where the relatives were also trying to find answers about what happened.
“He got along with everyone here…everyone on the block. He was a very admired person. He didn’t have a problem with people. He happened to help him, ”said Arianna Rodríguez, a relative of the victim.
