Most of you probably know the cigarette lighter in the car. What is less well known, however, is that each car also has a hidden bottle opener.

Where is it and how does it work?

Open the bottle in the car: loosen the crown cap with a lever system

Newer cars have more and more software to make driving easier. In addition, the models from Mercedes-Benz, Tesla and Co. now also offer entertainment systems with a wide range of options. However, there is no software to open bottle caps yet. However, it doesn’t need them either. Motorists can help each other in other ways.

You don’t always have a bottle opener or a lighter with you, for example to open a cola bottle with a crown cap. But motorists can use a “hidden bottle opener” that can even be found several times in every car.

To open a bottle with a crown cap, you usually need a bottle opener or a lighter that uses the lever system to loosen the crown cap. Another option is to open the bottle from a corner or an edge. But you should be careful, especially in a car, because such an action can quickly scratch and damage the interior.

A bottle opener is hidden in the car

But motorists can save themselves these efforts. There are several “bottle openers” in every car that also look like them: the seat belt buckles. The small, mostly rectangular holes in the strap buckles are ideal for opening bottles easily and without damaging them.

It goes without saying that drivers and their companions should not unbuckle their seat belts while driving in order to get a bottle – and drivers, please, no alcoholic beverages! – to open. However, when the car is stationary, it can be very handy to use this extraordinary bottle opener.
