A few days before the state elections in Bremen on Sunday, another survey puts Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte’s SPD just ahead of challenger Frank Imhoff’s CDU. According to the survey published on Tuesday by the Insa Institute for the “Bild” newspaper, the SPD comes to 30 percent. The CDU reached 28 percent.

The Greens are only seen at twelve percent, followed by the left with nine percent, the right-wing populist party Bürger in Wut with eight percent and the FDP with six percent. The AfD is excluded from the election. The values roughly correspond to surveys for ARD and ZDF from the past week.

The CDU won the election four years ago with 26.7 percent. The SPD came in second with 24.9 percent, forming a government with the Greens and Left Party winning 17.4 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively. The AfD landed at 6.1 percent, the FDP at 5.9 percent.

Mathematically, according to the new survey, a continuation of red-green-red or a coalition of SPD and CDU would be possible. For the survey, Insa interviewed a total of 1000 eligible voters in Bremen by telephone and online from Tuesday last week to Monday. (AFP)
