This Wednesday morning, a 41-year-old woman who had gone on vacation in the province of Tucumán was found lifeless near the Los Sosa River. The victim, identified as Daniela Maria Avenahad been wanted since Tuesday afternoon, when she fell into the water after trying to take a photo.

Avena’s body was found around 8 in the morning, at kilometer 22 of Provincial Route 307 in an area known as Piedras Coloradas, about 400 meters from where she had been last seen. The search was carried out by Volunteer Firefighters from the Tucuman town of Monteros, Infantry Guard personnel, officers from the Special Rescue and Operations Corps (CERO) and the Lake Police.

According to testimonies from family members, the woman had climbed a stone on the river bank to take a selfie, until she slipped. Losing her balance, she fell into the river and was swept away by a strong current.

“The search began in the afternoon-night of Tuesday and continued on Wednesday morning, ensuring that specialized personnel carry it out, since the flow of water and the lack of natural light represented a great danger for those who tried to collaborate. ”, explained police sources.

Avena was a native of González Catán, west of Greater Buenos Aires, and was visiting the area with her family and friends.

To rescue the body from the intense current, the firefighters used a rigid board and designed a zip-line system with ropes anchored at both ends of the river, where they sent the stretcher.

On the other hand, given the desperate situation, visitors to the area tried to join the woman’s rescue, but the proposal was prohibited by police personnel to prevent another tragedy from occurring. In this way, the authorities restricted entry to the river bed throughout the night, according to reports from the local media El Tucumano.

After the accident, those responsible for the Prosecutor’s Office of the Monteros Judicial Center began working on the scene to carry out the corresponding expertise.
