After having formalized his arrival in Anderlecht, Islam Slimani should make his debut tomorrow, during the match against Oostende. He will not be a starter, of course, but he could be incorporated during the match.
The only surprise of the winter transfer window concerning Algerian players playing in Europe is the departure of Islam Slimani from Stade Brestois. Indeed, he joined the Belgian club Anderlecht. It was in the last moments of the transfer period that he formalized his arrival, signing a contract until the end of the current season.
It was yesterday that the Algerian international did his first training with Anderlecht. The photos published on the Belgian club’s official social media accounts show the player’s great determination to bounce back with his new team after a (short) failed experience at Stade Brestois.

Will Slimani start tomorrow against Oostende?
Anderlecht coach Brian Riemer says he is happy to sign Islam Slimani during the winter transfer window. He expects a lot from him to bring more to the offensive compartment of his team.
“Yes, I am happy with his arrival. We know Slimani very well (…) He will bring power, he is a big size who can serve as a targetman at the outposts. He also knows how to keep the ball to bring up the block, and constitute a great danger on the crosses of our wingers. He is a player who is used to racing at the top level”. Praised the Danish technician the top scorer in the history of the national team.
The latter could perform his baptism of fire with Anderlecht during tomorrow’s match against Oostende. Only, he will not be a holder. It should be incorporated during the game.
“He is available and totally fit, he recently played with Brest. Of course, he only trained once with us. Not to lie, he won’t start but will be on the bench and will have an impact going up the game, I’m sure. Reveals coach Riemer.
