After scoring the decisive goal against Cameroon in Switzerland’s debut, and his image apologizing to the African country for having scored traveled the world, the young striker Breel Embolo made headlines again but this time for having been the protagonist of a clash on the streets of Monaco.

Although the episode occurred on the night of December 17-18, images of his wrecked Lamborghini went viral in the last few hours. Next to his vehicle, a yellow Ferrari and a white Nissan could also be seen, who would have been responsible for the accident.

Fortunately none of the people who were involved in the crash suffered serious injuries. Even in the recording that was released on the internet, some people appeared arguing, including the player.

As detailed by the Swiss newspaper Blick, the driver of the white car would not have respected the stop sign that was on one of the streets of Monaco and that is why he collided with Breel Embolo’s Lamborghini.

The police of the luxurious Monegasque state ruled on the episode but only limited themselves to confirming that the accident had indeed taken place in their region. The officers did not want to give more details about the identity of those involved.

“We don’t know who is to blame,” explained a witness in dialogue with 20 Minutos and added: “It was night and the crossing point is not easy to handle. Such an accident happens often here in Monaco, it’s an accident-prone place.”

Embolo, who was born in Cameroon but plays for Switzerland, captured the flashes of cameras for a few moments after his World Cup debut in Qatar as he had promised he would not celebrate if he scored against his country of birth, and he kept his word. It turned out to be the only goal of the match as Switzerland beat Cameroon 1-0.

“I would have liked him to be in my team,” said Cameroonian coach Rigobert Song, who has played in four World Cups for his country. “But it was not like that”.

“I am happy for him and also proud of him. He is my little brother. We often talk on the phone, ”added Song, who was asked about his words to the footballer after the game. “He thought he had a great game and wanted to tell him. After all, we are still brothers.”

The young striker could see action again on December 28 when his team, Monaco, face Auxerre in what will be the restart of the French Ligue 1.
