The magic broom-back sport from the Harry Potter universe will be adapted by Unbroken Studios. The title will offer a competitive and fast-paced multiplayer experience.
25 years after the publication of the first volume of the magic saga, the Harry Potter license has never been so current. At the start of the year, fans were able to enjoy a new video game from the magical universe, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy. Barely a few weeks later, another title has already been announced, Harry Potter: Champions de Quidditch.
While the magic sport was only mentioned in Avalanche Software’s game, Warner Bros. Games revealed on Monday that Unbroken Studios has been developing a title focused on magic sports for several years. It is a competitive and fast multiplayer game, expected on PC and consoles (without detailing which ones).
Not a simple adaptation of the novels
Without giving details on a possible release date or window, Warner Bros. – the operator of the license rights – indicates that Harry Potter: Champions de Quidditch is currently in a test phase with limited participation, in a FAQ (frequently asked questions).
It is thus possible to register on the official site of the game to try to be selected among the players who will be able to test a non-definitive version of Harry Potter: Champions de Quidditch as part of its development.
The title naturally joins the Portkey Games label, which publishes original games on the Harry Potter universe. Thus, these titles try to move away from the simple adaptation of the novels – which will have the right to a series on Max with a new cast. This was the case with Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacywhose plot takes place a hundred years before the adventures told in the literary saga.
“While staying true to JK Rowling’s original vision, developers at Portkey Games are exploring new territory by creating new ways for fans to immerse themselves in the wizarding world,” reads the FAQ for Harry Potter: Champions de Quidditch.
