With a sixth place on our list of last year’s best TV series, it’s safe to say that we, like many others, really liked The Bear. The chaotic portrayal of a restaurant kitchen now returns with a second season, which also gets two more episodes than its first season’s eight episodes. So we get a whole ten episodes to enjoy.
The premiere is so far set for “early summer” and then the recently Golden Globe-awarded actor Jeremy Allen White may return, in the role of Carmy, in a season that will focus on the launch of a new restaurant. Series creator Christopher Storer says that the relationship between the characters Carmy and Sydney will not develop into anything more than a platonic relationship in the upcoming season:
“We wanted to make something that was about friendship and a partnership. It really is so funny that that is one of the things that people took away — of all the heavy shit that’s going on in the show! It was interesting because Ayo and Jeremy , since they are our friends and are such wonderful people, I think there is this charisma that comes off both of them.
From the beginning, it was like, we should just show people being really good at their jobs and pushing each other. Selfishly, I hadn’t seen a show without a romantic plot and was like, that could be kind of cool and interesting.”
