Disney+ offers several new features for this month of January, including the “Welcome to Chippendales” and “Extraordinary” series. We present these two series to you below.

The Disney+ streaming platform is off to a strong start in 2023 with the release of the “Welcome to Chippendales” series, available for streaming since January 11.

The series follows the adventures of Somen “Steve” Banerjee and his extraordinary, but also dark, rise in the male strip scene in the late 1970s. An Indian immigrant, he wants only two things in life: money and power. And to achieve his ends, he seems ready for anything.

But beware, if the subject may seem light at first glance, the series is far from showing a magical universe. Behind the success story, it plunges us into a dark and mysterious story where muscular bodies and murders mingle in 8 shocking episodes!

“Welcome to Chippendales” is produced by Robert Siegel (“Pam & Tommy”) and Kumail Nanjiani. The latter also plays the main role of the series and is particularly known for the film The Big Sick. You can also find Murray Bartlett (“The White Lotus”), Annaleigh Ashford (“American Crime Story”) or Juliette Lewis (“Yellowjackets”) there.

“Extraordinary”: a British sitcom available on January 25

And to end the month of January in style, Disney+ has planned the release of another series that will surely cause a lot of ink to flow: the British sitcom “Extraordinary”, available from January 25 on the streaming platform.

This series follows Jen’s adventures in a parallel world where everyone discovers extraordinary power on their 18th birthday. Only problem: Jen is now 25 years old and she still has no special powers. The series follows her quest to discover her power, as well as her love stories with notably Luke, a young man who can fly, and the lives of those close to her like Carrie, her best friend who can communicate with the dead.

Written by Emma Moran and produced by Charlie Palmer, the series presents a nice cast including Máiréad Tyers who plays the heroine of the series, but also Sofia Oxenham in the role of Carrie or Ned Porteous in the role of Luke.

Both series are intended for adults and available in the Star section. The latter offers more “mature” films and series than some other sections, the aim being to appeal to all audiences. To discover these series now, go quickly to Disney+!
