After being hospitalized for 16 days, Mario Maidana (42), accused of murdering his ex-wife in a Posadas motel, was released. As reported in a timely manner by El Territorio, the man was hospitalized after being found in the bathroom of the accommodation hotel next to the body of the victim with a serious neck injury, self-inflicted with a beer bottle. He was first accommodated at the Madariaga Hospital, but then his transfer to Favaloro was defined.

There, as it was reconstructed, he was in an induced coma in intensive care due to the large amount of blood he lost. He then recovered, but pneumonia forced him to stay in intensive care for a few more days, always with police custody ordered by Justice.

A detail that came out is that during the days he was in the place he received a visit from his sister and a lawyer. In this context, on Tuesday his transfer to intensive care was arranged until finally this Friday he obtained a medical discharge and was discharged at midday.

Given this, the Misiones Police and the hospital authorities mounted an operation to remove him from the hospital, taking into account the movement of the hospital, especially the pediatric sector. The alleged femicide was housed in the Fourth Section awaiting determinations from the Investigating Court Three, in charge of Judge Fernando Verón.

Sources of the case expressed that the man will spend his first weekend in the cell and his transfer to judicial headquarters will take place between Monday and Tuesday. Once the officer arrived at the scene, work was carried out by the Scientific Police.

Once inside the scene they found both people unconscious in the bathroom. At that moment, the officers present realized that the woman was already without vital signs. Meanwhile, the attacker was unconscious but alive, so he was rushed to the medical center.

Autopsy and context of violence

The cause of death, as determined by the autopsy of the Forensic Medical Corps, was mechanical asphyxiation by manual strangulation. As detailed, the woman was repeatedly hit in the face and had superficial cuts that could have been caused by a bottle.

It became known later that the couple was going through a very violent separation and the Justice had determined a restriction of approach due to different facts. This was in force until March. In this sense, Angie Maidana (24), one of their daughters, gave details of the ordeal experienced by her mother, whom she defined as the “best” woman.

“Since he was 16 years old, he accompanied himself. She was mistreated and beaten until me and my brother (today the young man is 19) grew up and there were no more blows from my father towards her. She was a housewife, a good mother who endured humiliation. They didn’t let her go out or shop, ”she explained.

“My mother endured the mistreatment from the age of 16 to 40 and decided to separate. She was happy because she was finally able to go sit outside, have a terere, go for a walk and work, which she never could.

About the days before the crime, Angie said that her father told Natalia that she had won the pool and that he was going to give her part of that money, knowing that the woman needed it.

They were in the house until he convinced her to go to the place where the brutal crime occurred.
