During a hearing session of Transport and Telecommunications and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Emigration, the CEO of Air Algérie, Yacine Benslimane, spoke about the project of the acquisition of new aircraft for his company.

Last Monday in Algiers, the CEO of the national airline announced that the fleet of his company will be reinforced, with new aircraft, very soon. Indeed, Benslimane indicated that negotiations will be conducted with aircraft manufacturers. And this, as part of the acquisition of 15 new aircraft ordered by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Acquisition of new aircraft from Air Algérie: the progress of the project

In accordance with the CEO of Air Algérie, the stage of negotiations with the manufacturers will take place on January 23 and 24, 2023. At the end of these, the results of the international call for tenders launched in this wake will be known. and announced. And this, following the evaluation of the two offers selected after the opening of the bids.

In addition, Yacine Benslimane also indicated that among these 15 new aircraft, seven will be large carriers and the other eight medium carriers. In addition to this project, Air Algérie also plans to procure seven other aircraft, in particular through the Leasing formula. The tender for this project was launched after the lifting of restrictions linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Towards a new reinforcement of the Air Algérie program

In another file, the CEO of Air Algerie said that his company plans to launch new airlines soon. In particular, to Addis Ababa, Johannisberg and Libreville. But that’s not all.

From March 2023, Air Algérie plans to increase the number of its flights to African countries, with 2 to 3 connections to each destination. And this, with the aim of transporting more travelers internationally. In addition, from February 2, the Algiers Hub will allow passengers to join their onward flights without redoing the various baggage check-in and boarding formalities.

Regarding the next summer season, Benslimane recalled that the sale of tickets for this new program has begun. With, in particular, 68,000 seats planned per week.
