May 17th is celebrated World Recycling Daywith the aim of raising awareness in society about the importance of reducing and reusing waste, to contribute to climate change and protect the environment.

In this context, environmental awareness actions will be carried out, hand in hand with the technical team and the IDSR Environmental Promoterswhich seek to generate awareness and citizen commitment, regarding the Integral Management of Waste in the city.

The Environment and Mobility Secretary, María Paz Caruso, stressed that “citizen responsibility is the first link in the recycling chain. For this reason, we work hard on everything that has to do with awareness. The actions we carry out seek to vindicate the importance of recycling, of reusing, of knowing how to make better use of these residues that for us are garbage, but for others they are resources. A simple daily gesture can make a big change. For this reason, we want to continue adding actors and sectors to action for the climate, companies, schools, neighbors and neighbors are essential for the change to be true”.

“Let’s remember that the city recovers about 300 tons of waste per month that is then recycled. This process not only favors caring for the environment, but also means employment for around 80 families in the city: our Urban Recyclers currently formed in three work cooperatives. It is a long chain of commitments where the neighbor is the first link, and the municipality accompanies each step. We insist a lot on generating awareness so that people always separate waste, ”she closed.
