Actor David Soul, from Starsky and Hutch, dies at 80

LONDON.- He actor United States David Soulwho played Hutch in the 1970s series Starsky y Hutchdied on Thursday at the age of 80, his wife, Helen Snell, reported today, January 5.

Soul, whose real name was David Richard Solberg, was born in Chicago and acquired British nationality in 2004.

“David Soul, a much-loved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away yesterday after a brave battle to continue living, surrounded by the love of his family,” Helen Snell said in a statement.

“His smile, his laugh and his passion for life will be remembered by the many people he met,” added Helen Snell.

David Soul, his stage name, lived in London, with his wife, a city he had chosen to spend the rest of his days and where he became a faithful follower of the Arsenal football team.

in the series Starsky y Hutchbroadcast for 92 weeks in the United States between 1975 and May 1979, David Soul acted alongside Paul Michael Glaser, forming the famous couple of police detectives, who moved in the also legendary red Ford Gran Torino with a white stripe.

The series narrated their adventures in the imaginary town of Bay City, where the two police officers had the help of Huggy Bear, their faithful informant, played by Antonio Fargas.

In 2004 a feature film was made from the series Starsky y Hutch. Owen Wilson took on the role played by David Soul 30 years earlier and Ben Stiller took on the role of Paul Michael Glaser.

Parallel to his performance as an actor, taking advantage of the success of the series, he launched a musical career as a singer, recording five albums, with songs such as Don’t give up on usin 1977, which became number one in the United Kingdom.
