Stefan Fischnaller spoke in “Vorarlberg LIVE” about the program highlights of the Götzis adult education center.

The past three years have also led to a transformation process in the further education sector throughout Austria. However, many courses could not be held in the past three years due to corona. This was reported by Stefan Fischnaller, Vorarlberg’s adult education center chairman and deputy chairman of the association of Austrian adult education centers, on Wednesday on the Vorarlberg LIVE broadcast.

“Trend is up again”

“The areas of aesthetics, personality development, creativity and health have come to a complete standstill,” he continued. The trend is now upwards again. “We haven’t reached pre-crisis levels yet, but we’re heading in that direction.”

Fischnaller sees adult education centers as providers of local education. There are five locations in Vorarlberg. Courses are offered in 60 communities. The pandemic has brought a digitization push and many courses in online format. “But we also want people to come together in the future,” emphasized the VHS boss. It is also about doing something against loneliness.

Cooking courses particularly in demand

For the next semester, 1200 VHS courses are planned again in the state. 30,000 course participants were counted annually in the past. Cooking courses are among the focal points. There are now courses for specialties from 30 different countries. Integration also plays an important role. In the previous year, 180 German course events took place in Götzis alone.
