The Yakuza franchise is still being developed by studio Ryu Ga Gotoku, but SEGA has changed its name in the West to Like a Dragon to match its name in Japan. The next title we will see is Like a Dragon: Ishina relaunch that will feature cameos by the fighter kenny omega and the actor rahul kohli.
Like A Dragon: Ishin originally arrived on PS3 and PlayStation 4 nine years ago but in less than a month it will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PlayStation 5 and PC, so it will be able to reach a new audience. Like a Dragon: Ishin is out on February 21, 2023 but we already have new details of the changes that this remake brings, such as his celebrity cameos with Kenny Omega and Rahul Kohli.
In a recent interview with Rebekah Valentine for IGN it was confirmed that both AEW’s Kenny Ortega What Rahul Kohli of Midnight Mass will have cameo appearances in Like a Dragon: Ishin as “Trooper Cards”, a type of summoning that we perform in the game. These invocations allow us to summon other characters to help us in battle and among their cameos we have these two celebrities.
According to the report, actor Rahul Kohli’s Trooper Card bears the name “Firestorm Essence”, while Kenny Omega’s is called “One-winged angel essence”. The latter refers to both Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII and Omega’s Finisher, the One-Winged Angelbut what we will see in the game is a totally original movement.
“It’s not a wrestling hold…we are heavily influenced by swordsmanship, magic and weapons. I thought it was a chance to do something a little different.”, Kenny Omega said in the interview. Although the wrestler hopes to bring his real wrestling moves to a video game in the future, he’s excited about his attack in Like a Dragon: Ishin for now and says he feels like he belongs in the universe.
It should be noted that in November of last year it was announced that Kenny Omega is on the cover of AEW: Fight Forever, so we could see his wrestling movements in that video game this year. At the moment there is no announced release date for the AEW game, so Like a Dragon: Ishin will be the first game to show a digital version of Kenny Omega.
