Everton brought Brighton up early with a goal after 34 seconds en route to a surprising 5-1 victory against a rival who was bidding to qualify for the European cups and bagged three points that took him out of the relegation zone of the English Premier League on Monday .
Abdoulaye Doucoure was the author of the tenth goal scored in the first minute this season for the English. He also volleyed in the 29th minute to put Everton on track to win at Brighton.
The visitors increased to 35 through an own goal from goalkeeper Jason Steele.
McNeil scored in the 76th after dribbling past Steele to finish off a counterattack.
Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister scored the crowning goal in the 79th for Brighton. Las Gaviotas remain in seventh place, eight points behind the top four. McNeil made Everton’s fifth in injury time.
After waking up as penultimate in the table, Everton will sleep with a margin of two points over the red zone and with renewed hope that they will be able to extend their 69-year stay in the division of honour. They have games ahead of them against Manchester City, Wolverhampton and Bournemouth at the end of the season.
LEICESTER IN TROUBLE
Leicester, champions of the 2015-16 season, remain in the relegation noose, conceding four goals in the first 51 minutes as they lose 5-3 at Fulham.
At Craven Cottage, Brazilian Willian and Tom Cairney scored doubles for Fulham. The other goal was the work of Brazilian Carlos Vinicius.
Leicester responded with goals from Harvey Barnes and James Maddison — the latter converting a penalty. Barnes billed his second goal at 89.
The defeat left Leicester in third from bottom place. The end of the season is intimidating: Liverpool at home; Visiting Newcastle and West Ham at home.
