The remaining seniors in the Josephinenanlage have to look after a new care provider by January 31st. The responsible General Services Society (ADG) informed the residents on December 28th that care would be discontinued at the end of January. The letter of termination is available to the PNN. The reason given by the company is an “extremely high level of sick leave”. ADG is part of the corporate network of the MK Kliniken care group, which also owns the company that operates the Josephinen facility.

Airbnb instead of care for the elderly

The Josephinenanlage is a former residential home for senior citizens. In 2021, the operating company gave notice to over 100 seniors in one go, since then it has not offered housing for older people there, but Airbnb apartments. The operating company Soziale Grundbesitzgesellschaft Potsdam changed its name to Appartement P GmbH last year.

The former senior citizens’ flats are now being marketed as apartments on a newly launched website. In the same week that the company announced the cessation of the nursing service, it advertised a position for a hotel manager in Potsdam.

Seniors quit and offer the former living space on Airbnb – PNN research has shown that MK Kliniken does not only do this in Potsdam. The state capital is currently negotiating with MK Kliniken about the Josephinenanlage. The city administration has not informed the PNN of the objectives it is going into the negotiations with, even when asked repeatedly. MK Kliniken did not respond to a request from PNN.
