Canada is a country that is attracting more and more Algerian nationals. Especially those who wish to continue their studies or embark on a new career. For its part, the Canadian government is doubling its efforts to bring in new foreign workers. And this to bend the shortage of labor which penalizes several sectors of activity in the country.

For 2022, Canada has achieved a new record. Notably, in terms of the number of permanent residents hosted in the country. Immigration Minister Sean Frazer previously reported 431,645 permanent residents.

In the same vein, and with the aim of attracting more foreign workers. The Canadian government has decided on new changes regarding its work permit.

Changes made to the authorization to work in Canada

Indeed, on its official website, the Canadian government announces that changes will be made regarding work permits for foreigners. Thus, from January 30, 2023, the Canadian government intends to expand work authorizations to include spouses. But also the dependent children of the holder of the work permit.

Are affected by this new measure, the spouses and dependent children of a work permit holder who occupies a position in any category from 0 to 5 (Training, Education, Experience and Responsibility FEER). Or the spouse and dependent children of a person with an open work permit. Spouses and children of applicants for permanent residence are also affected by this new measure.

On the other hand, the spouses and dependents of a worker who holds a FEER job (4 or 5). In particular, those in the low-wage stream of the temporary foreign worker agricultural program are not, for the time being, affected by this change.
