Alamo police officer arrested after crash allegedly intoxicated

AJ Arevalo, 37, who is a police officer in Alamo, was arrested this Wednesday, August 2, after he was involved in a crash while allegedly driving under the influence, Alamo police report.

The incident occurred at 11:35 pm at the intersection of Mile 10 and FM 493. Donna Police officers responded to investigate the incident. At that time Arévalo was off duty.

According to a statement from the Donna Police, officers learned that Arevalo had lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a traffic signal pole at the intersection. The agents also indicated that Arévalo allegedly gave off a strong odor of alcohol from his breath and showed signs of intoxication.

The policeman was given a breathalyzer test that led to his arrest “for driving under the influence,” adds the Donna Police. Arévalo is scheduled to appear before a judge this Thursday for the arraignment.
