With new manager restaurant in North End whose owner is accused of shooting

The Boston Licensing Board granted a petition Wednesday to change the manager of record at Monica’s Trattoria as its former owner faces felony charges in connection with a shooting in the North End neighborhood.

Amanda McQueen, who previously served as an assistant manager, was approved to be the new manager of record during a licensing board hearing held on Zoom. Patrick Mendoza, the previous owner, remains in custody on charges related to the shooting that left a bullet hole in the Modern Pastry store.

Last week, the licensing board suspended Monica’s Trattoria’s food and liquor license, pending a vote to transfer the license and review the change of ownership.

Attorney William Ferullo, who represents the restaurant, told the licensing board during Wednesday’s hearing that Monica’s expects to be serving food by the weekend, according to the Boston Herald.

Mendoza was arrested nearly two weeks ago after an eight-day search. During his arraignment, they pleaded not guilty on his behalf to charges of assault to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, weapons violations and intimidation of a witness.
