President Alberto Fernández shared a working meeting this afternoon at the San Martín Palace with the special presidential adviser for the Americas of the United States, Christopher Dodd, with the aim of deepening and expanding the ties that unite both countries, within the framework of the 200 years of the establishment of the bilateral relationship that are fulfilled in 2023.

The Argentine president appreciated the participation of the US presidential adviser in the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC and underscored the objective of reinforcing the regional body “as a multilateral forum for inter-American and global dialogue based on the solidarity, cooperation and the peaceful solution of conflicts”, having as its axis the pillars of this space: the region as a zone of peace and unity in diversity.

In this regard, Alberto Fernández highlighted the “broad bond that characterizes the bilateral relationship and the frank and permanent dialogue” that exists between the two governments on various issues, such as the consolidation of democracy, the promotion and protection of human rights and gender, food security and health protection, climate change, the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, among others.

The Head of State pointed out that “the United States is a fundamental partner” and stressed the importance of continuing joint work to enhance investment opportunities in the country and Argentine exports. In this sense, the Head of State affirmed that, given the consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, Argentina “presents itself as a reliable partner capable of supplying American consumers and contributing to security global food and energy.

Also participating in the meeting were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Santiago Cafiero; and the ambassador to the United States, Jorge Argüello.

On behalf of the United States, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Adviser, Marcos Christian Mandojana; the Director of Western Hemisphere Affairs, James Escobar; and the ambassador in Argentina, Mark Stanley.
