President Alberto Fernández will return to Ensenada next Monday to lead the inauguration ceremony of the combined cycle of the Barragán Thermal Power Plant together with the local mayor, Mario Seccoand the authorities of YPF and Pampa Energía.

Fernández will thus visit the region for the second time so far this year. On January 12, he was in the neighboring district to inaugurate the new Punta Lara Coastal Park, a work awaited for 30 years by the community of Ensenada and the municipalities of Quilmes, avellaneda, Berisso Y the silverwhich will allow the tourist development of that spa.

The act, as confirmed by the Municipality, will take place at 10. The works will allow the generation capacity of the plant to be expanded from 567 MW to a power of 847 MW, with an investment of 220 million dollars, for which it is allowing the generation of 1,500 jobs.

The Thermal Power Plant is currently made up of two Siemens gas turbines, commissioned in 2012 of 567 MW, which represent 1.3% of the installed capacity of Argentina. It has the possibility of consuming natural gas or diesel, so it has two storage tanks with a combined capacity of 45,000 cubic meters.

From 2013 to 2021, CTEB’s historical average annual generation was 1,287 GWh, with a maximum of 2,093 GWh in 2016 and a minimum of 255 GWh in 2020. Pampa operates the Thermal Power Plant until July 2023, rotating operations with YPF SA every 4 years and owns a 50% interest in the share capital of CTBSA (CT Barragán SA).
