A 51-year-old caused an accident on Saturday evening and fled.

On Saturday, around 6.35 p.m., a 35-year-old man living in Wolfurt rode his bicycle on the L 190 in the direction of Dornbirn Zentrum. During the trip, the cyclist was hit by a 51-year-old car driver from Dornbirn, thrown onto the bonnet of the car and then fell onto the street.

Heavily drunk

The car driver involved stopped her car at the scene of the accident, got out of her car and left the scene of the accident, however, without having helped the accident victim or taken part in recording the accident. The cyclist was transferred to the Dornbirn city hospital with injuries of an unspecified degree after receiving first aid from the Red Cross rescue workers. Based on witness statements, the fugitive car driver could be traced. Shortly after the accident, the responsible driver went to the Dornbirn police station with her car on her own. At the police station, an alcohol test was carried out on the car driver, which revealed that she was heavily intoxicated.

The woman’s driver’s license was temporarily taken away at the Dornbirn police station and she was forbidden to drive any more motor vehicles. After the investigation is complete, the driver will be reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Feldkirch and the district authority in Dornbirn.
