There are currently worlds between Union Berlin and Hertha BSC. In the direct duel between the two Berlin Bundesliga teams, Union prevailed 2-0 on Saturday. Hertha, which was threatened with relegation, then surprisingly fired managing director Fredi Bobic.

While the West Berliners are lagging behind in the penultimate place in the table and chaos reigns in the club again, Union greets them from almost the top. Thanks to the victory in the derby, the club from the east of the capital is now level on points with leaders Bayern Munich.

Since promotion in 2019, the Köpenickers have blossomed into one of the top clubs in the league in record time. And suddenly Union is also associated with former world stars. This is what happened with Real Madrid’s ex-player Isco.

The former Royal playmaker is currently without a club after a short, unsuccessful interlude at FC Sevilla. Rumors arose recently that Union could snap up the former world-class player.

“The fact that the Unioners are planning something that no one in the Bundesliga expects is going around,” said the “Sky” reporter and transfer expert Florian Plettenberg. The players would already make jokes in training, he reports.

Inspired by the derby victory, the team is now openly joking about a possible deal with the ex-world star.

Captain Christopher Trimmel shared a photo of the team cheering in the Olympic Stadium on Saturday and provided it with the comment “This win is for you Isco” followed by a kiss emoji.

The reaction of some of his teammates was not long in coming. “He’s coming!” wrote defender Timo Baumgartl. Winger Jamie Leweling also commented: “Now he’s safe”. Genki Haraguchi and András Schäfer also responded with laughing emojis, Sheraldo Becker with “Hahahahahaha”.

Union transfer: Even Isco comments on Trimmel’s contribution

With his post, Trimmel has even done what many news portals and newspapers have so far been denied: Isco himself has commented on Union Berlin. The playmaker responded to the Berlin captain’s post with a bicep emoji.

Union President Dirk Zingler had already commented on the transfer rumor about Isco before the game against Hertha. “It’s an honor for us. If Isco is associated with us, we’ve done a lot right. It’s an honor for us,” he told “Sky”.
