Alert for heavy rains and flooding in South Florida

He National Hurricane Center (NHC) noted that there is a trough over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and is expected to produce heavy rain in Florida.

The floods are already beginning to be noticed in Miami. In Downtown, Brickell and Hialeah, sidewalks and roads were flooded as of Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities warn that there is a low probability of a tropical depression forming off the southeastern coast of the United States, but it is necessary to remain vigilant until the end of this week.

The National Weather Service issued the alert for heavy rains for southern Florida. Precipitation is expected to increase in the coming hours.

The heaviest rain is expected near the Gulf Coast from Wednesday night through the end of the week. There is a risk of localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas along the east and Gulf coasts, as well as in areas prone to flooding or with drainage problems.

The detected system has remained practically stationary in the last few hours, but is expected to move towards the northeast, crossing Florida and moving towards the southeast coast of the country.

Although upper-level winds are only marginally favorable, some slow development is possible as the system moves offshore.

Regardless of its development, heavy rain is forecast to continue in parts of the Florida peninsula over the next few days.

Authorities recommend residents stay informed about the weather and take necessary precautions to avoid flood-related incidents.
