There are countless actors who have embraced the same profession as their (famous) parents. Normal to wonder if Emmanuelle Galabru, who plays Mathilde Dumont in this episode ofAlex Hugo, is related to Michael Galabru or is it a namesake? It is indeed the daughter of the actor who died in 2016. The actor had three children, two boys from a first marriage and a girl, Emmanuelle, with his second wife, Claude Etevon. Born in 1976, Emmanuelle Galabru has made a few appearances in the cinema, she notably participated in the first part of the collection Camping, released in 2006. Alex Hugo : does the rural police exist-t-elle?
Former cop of the Marseille criminal brigade, Alex Hugo (played by Samuel Le Bihan, as good hiking partner as his character) fled the city to go green in Lusagne, a small village in the Hautes-Alpes where he joined the rural police, led by Angelo Battala (who has just retired). And despite the tranquility of the place, the rural police do not only settle neighborhood disputes! If the village was imagined for fiction, this is not the case with this entity of the police, which really exists. Alex Hugo is actually a rural policeman, a sworn officer who collaborates with other police services but who depends on the municipal police and therefore on the town hall. He may be revoked, suspended or sanctioned by the mayor in the event of misconduct in the performance of his duties.
“In Death and the good life, the American novel by Richard Hugo from which the series is adapted (which is also the pilot episode of the series, editor’s note), the hero is the sheriff of a small town. We had to transpose this profession to us”, explains the production of the series.
