The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received a call from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, indicates a press release from the Presidency of the Republic. The Syrian president’s appeal comes the day after Syria’s reintegration into the Arab League, following a meeting of foreign ministers of the organization’s member countries.
Indeed, according to a press release made public by the Presidency of the Republic, this Monday, May 8, 2023: “The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received a telephone call on Monday from his brother, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, country brother, Bashar al-Assad, during which he expressed his sincere thanks and his esteem for the incessant efforts made by Mr. President to enable Syria to regain, within the framework of the Algerian presidency of the Arab Summit, its seat in the Arab League, and wished the Algerian people more progress and prosperity”.

In turn, “the President of the Republic expressed to his Syrian counterpart his esteem and his congratulations on the return of Syria, a brotherly country, to the Arab League, wishing the brotherly Syrian people more progress and strength, and joint Arab action to achieve the realization of the aspirations of the Arab peoples to strength, stability and development,” the same source added.
“The two presidents also agreed to exchange visits and to define an intensive action program covering all sectors for a continuous consolidation of the privileged historical relations uniting the two countries”concludes the press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
