Algerian startup FARM AI ranked second in global competition

The Algerian startup “FARM Al”, which offers solutions based on artificial intelligence to deal with the problems facing farmers, distinguished itself by obtaining second place in the final of the Tech4Good global competition, said yesterday. , on Sunday, January 8 the company Huawei Algeria.

The team of young Algerians, “FARM AI”, presented to an international jury a project within the framework of the empowerment of agriculture thanks to artificial intelligence consisting of an early detection system for rust affecting wheat fields using drones, specifies the same source.

During the final, which took place last Thursday, the Algerian startup pocketed a check for $15,000. “FARM AI” will take part with two teams in another competition scheduled for February to obtain sponsorship of $100,000, adds Huawei Algeria.

The Tech4Good competition is a new project launched in 2021 by global telecommunications giant Huawei as part of its flagship digital skills training program “Seeds for the Future”.

The Tech4Good asks students to “identify a social problem and propose a technical solution based on information and communication technology skills”. The contest is also designed to “cultivate leadership and teamwork through group practice and competition.”
