The wilaya of Algiers has launched a project to redevelop five forest sites as part of the capital’s green plan. The work aims to transform these sites into walking and leisure areaswill be received during next summer season.
Equipment for sports and leisure activities will be set up at the level of the forest sites of Carob tree in Dély Ibrahim, Diar El Afia in Bourouba, Saliba and Beaulieu in Oued Smar, as well as the Beni Merad 2 forest in Bordj El Kiffan.

Algiers has a diversified forest cover spread over 5000 hectareswith 113 forest sites managed by the Directorate of Forests and the Green Belt. Forests contribute to the local and national economy with the creation of a socio-economic dynamic and jobs, as well as the practice of sports and leisure activities.
The Wali d’Alger also announced the launch of the operation of the first section of the northern part of Dounia Parc and the launch of rehabilitation and modernization works of the Ben Aknoun animal and leisure park.
An Algerian immigrant supervises a psychotropic drug trafficking network in Algiers
Three individuals involved in a network oftrafficking in psychotropic tablets in Algiers were sentenced by the public prosecutor at the court of Dar El Beida. They received a sentence of three years in prison with a fine of 200,000 DA.

The case began with the arrest of a Algerian national who had managed to bring in a quantity of psychotropic tablets from France. This arrest led to the discovery of a mind-altering tablets trafficking networkheaded by an Algerian immigrant.

Police officers seized a total of 179 tablets of different types during a search of the family home of the main defendant. Two other people involved in the case were also arrested.
During his hearing in court, the main defendant claimed to use these tablets to his medical treatmentclaiming to suffer from a medical condition requiring the use of these psychotropic drugs.
