The Alien series is a reality and it gives us great news today, but the show risks dividing.

Franchise Alien, launched by Ridley Scott in the late 70s, is now an ultra-cult franchise that has marked several generations of fans of horror science fiction films. More than 40 years after its creation, Giger’s monster has not aged a bit and has had the right to several films and adaptations in video games (like the excellent Alien Isolation), comics, etc… Only one was still missing. the call: the series.

The Alien series is coming soon!

And it will soon be the case since the project was announced a while ago. But today, Deadline brings us great news. The show directed by Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo) is entering its active pre-production phase and filming should begin this year, as confirmed by John Landgraf, boss of FX who oversees the series.

Noah is currently in production on the fifth season of Fargo, but he is in active pre-production on Alien, he wrote the scripts. I think he’s meeting his production designer in Austin this weekend, and gearing up for production this year as soon as he’s finished the fifth season of Fargo.

So it’s launched for the series Alien which should therefore see the light of day fairly soon. Excellent news for the fans, even if the pitch risks disappointing a lot of people. On the occasion of this new speech, John Landgraf made a point of recalling that the series should be drastically different from the films.

A pitch that will not please everyone

The plot will indeed take place on Earth and not in space, and will have practically no connection with the previous films, except for the iconic xenomorph. As a bonus, the series should dwell on the conditions of human life, its progress in AI and the advancement of science, much like Prometheus and Alien Covenant. Much less good news that clearly does not please fans who fear that the series will end up losing ground. Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt before we put her on fire. Especially since unlike bad movies Alien vs. Predator, it won’t be all about bloodshed and fan service this time around. Obviously, the legendary Hélène Ripley and her interpreter Sigourney Weaver will not be part of the adventure. Moreover, we still do not know who will play in the series, since the casting has still not been revealed.

This is happening on our planet. Very close to the end of this century, we are – so 70 years from now. Ripley won’t be part of it, nor will any of the other Alien characters other than the alien himself.

Series Alien does not yet have a release date, but it should be communicated in the coming months if all goes well. Let’s wait and see.
