Amazon has just launched a handy feature on its Prime Video platform. Named Dialogue Boost, this allows you to increase the volume of dialogues in relation to music and sounds. A good way to finally hear the muffled lines clearly.

When you watch series and movies on Amazon Prime Video and others, you often face an annoying problem. Dialog audio is sometimes inaudible over music and other ambient effects. So much so that you can’t hear the different lines well. Aware of the problem, Amazon has just unsheathed a new lifesaving feature.

Called Dialogue Boost, this increases the volume of the dialogues compared to the other sounds which take over the lines declaimed by the actors. Similar features that boost the volume of dialogues already exist on some soundbars and Smart TVs. But according to Amazon, Prime Video is the first SVOD service to offer such an option.

How to enable Dialogue Boost on Amazon Prime Video?

To activate Dialogue Boost, simply go to the audio drop-down menu after launching an eligible program. You will then have the choice between three levels: Low, Medium or High.

Dialogue Boost is already available to customers worldwide on select Amazon Original programs. We can mention in particular:

  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
  • Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
  • Harlem
  • The Big Sick
  • Being the Ricardos
  • Beautiful Boy

Amazon has promised that the feature will be supported on additional content later this year. Dialogue Boost analyzes a program’s audio and identifies when dialogue might be difficult to hear. Speech patterns are isolated and audio is enhanced to make it clearer to Amazon Prime subscribers’ ears.
