A premium smartphone, but which smells warm
The iPhone 14 has an air of deja vu, and for good reason, it is almost a copy-paste of the iPhone 13, but with some new features all the same. The GPU is a bit more efficient with its extra core or even a slightly improved photo mode with the addition of auto-focus and a main sensor with a better aperture. In terms of performance, we stay with Apple’s A15 Bionic chip. Even if it’s not the A16 Bionic reserved for the Pro and Pro Max models, it doesn’t make a big difference since the iPhone 14 will accomplish everything you ask of it without grumbling. However, it is true that this SoC is starting to date when we look at the side of the competition, we think in particular of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 and its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Unfortunately, on the photo side, the iPhone 14 is turns out to be a bit disappointing.
The native software has moved to iOS 16 which makes the user experience as pleasant as ever with additions of ultra-intuitive features. Especially since it will continue to benefit from updates for a few more years, so you are making a lasting investment by acquiring this smartphone. Finally, a quick word on battery life, which was once the downside of iPhones. During our test, it was measured at 48 hours in average use, it’s simply huge!
Clearly, the iPhone 14 is an excellent smartphone, even though the Pro and Pro Max versions remain more interesting in terms of functionality, the comfort of use remains far superior compared to what is next.
