Mexico City.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador wished his family “Merry Christmas” which, he said, numbered millions and he also sent hugs to those who he called his adversaries.

“My families are millions of Mexicans, women and men that I love very much and that I feel very loved too, very reciprocated and everyone, look: hugs, and also my adversaries,” he said with his wife, Beatriz Gutiérrez, who made a gesture by the reference to his “adversaries”.

“Don’t hate, love each other, we can have differences and treat each other as adversaries to defeat, not as enemies to destroy, you have to love each other, love above all else,” added the President in a video message that he recorded in the gardens of the Palace National.

López Obrador and Beatriz Gutiérrez appeared seated next to images of an indigenous birth in Chiapas.

The Mexican President began his message by indicating that tonight all Mexicans celebrate the birth of Christ, although he later qualified that “the majority.”

“Personally, I remember it because it has to do with the birth of Jesus Christ, who is for me the most important social leader that has ever existed on earth. The one who has shown the most with deeds, with self-sacrifice, with his life, the love for the poor, who fought against oppression and was sacrificed for that by the powerful, the powerful of his time,” he said.

The President wished everyone good health and said that he will spend the night with his family.

Beatriz Gutiérrez, writer and President of the Honorary Council of Historical and Cultural Memory of Mexico, I wish the population to have a good night.

“It is very important to give thanks, to give thanks even for what we did not get, for what we were not granted and try to live with peace and inner harmony,” he said.
