You can survey our buying guide for the best electric bikes of the moment to find the rare pearl. Alternatively, you can also move to Culdesac Tempe, Arizona where a brand new, free bike is just waiting to be hopped on. This neighborhood located in Tempe aims to become the first urban community with zero cars and parking spaces (except for visitors).

Under construction since 2019, the neighborhood will accommodate 1,000 residents in nearly 700 apartments. To attract people, promoter Culdesac has just signed a partnership with Lectric eBikes. This will allow the first 200 inhabitants of the district to recover a free Lectric XP 2.0 electric bike worth 999 dollars. They will only have to take care of “little fees” of service.

This model can go up to 45 km/h. It incorporates a lockable and removable 48V lithium-ion battery, mechanical disc brakes and a hydraulically suspended front fork. Residents interested in another Lectric model will be entitled to a $300 credit. They will also receive a 5% discount on all Lectric e-bikes purchased from Archer’s Bikes, the on-site bike shop.

This partnership allows the company to expand mobility options and make life without cars easier, more accessible and more fun for its residents. The area is still under construction but the images of the work show that things are progressing quickly. At a time of global warming and the democratization of green mobility, this type of initiative should multiply in the years to come.
