A difficult shoot
During an interview with Masterpiece, Nicola Walker spoke about the shooting conditions during the pandemic. “The weirdest thing was being locked up in Scotland without my family. Not seeing my family for three months was strange. It was a lonely experience in a job that is normally incredibly sociable. But most importantly, I knew we were all safe. At the end of each day, I was like, “Okay, it’s another day done, and everyone’s safe.”… Sometimes it’s only after the event that the we realize what we have done. I was walking my dog near my house the other day and thought, “What a feat to have Annika done under these circumstances. How the hell did we do this?” said the actress.

Annika: where was it shot?
The majority of the scenes were shot in Glasgow. The team visited several iconic locations in the area including High Street, the city’s oldest main street. We can see in an episode the Glasgow Necropolis, a Victorian cemetery, located close to Glasgow Cathedral. On some sequences, the series members Annika also visited Loch Lomond, a picturesque lake in the Highlands, in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. In short, the series pays tribute to the splendor of the landscapes of Scotland!
