Mexico City.- DHL Express announced an investment of 120 million dollars for the expansion and automation of its Domestic Air Operations Center (HUB), located at the Querétaro Intercontinental Airport (AIQ).

These investments are part of the 600 million dollars that the firm plans to invest in Mexico until 2024.

The resources will be allocated to the expansion of facilities, infrastructure and technology for process automation.

With the expansion of almost 30 thousand m2, this DHL Operations Center will be the largest of the company in Mexico, through which it will be able to process up to 41 thousand pieces per hour.

With this new work, the company will generate 200 direct jobs that will participate since 2022 in the construction and start-up of these facilities that are expected to be ready in the first half of 2024.

Also, with the new structure and expansion of logistics capacity, new air and land routes are contemplated to expedite local deliveries from the Bajio-Central area to the south and north of the country.

“Querétaro is a key point in DHL’s operations due to the logistics capabilities it offers nationally and internationally, which allows air and land services to be made more efficient within a dynamic industrial and business environment,” it said in a statement.

During more than 13 years of operation in the entity, the company has continuously invested to meet the increase in demand from sectors such as e-commerce, automotive, aerospace, retail, B2C, consumer products, engineering and manufacturing, among others.

On the domestic air hub of Querétaro, it began operations in 2010 in an area of ​​2,319 m2. In 2014, construction was expanded to 10,500 m2; currently working on an expansion of almost 30 thousand square meters.

Currently, the operation of the DHL Express HUB at AIQ allows: 12 daily domestic flights, with which the state connects to Mérida, Cancún, Monterrey, Ciudad Juárez, Mazatlán, Cabo San Lucas, Torreón, Hermosillo, Chihuahua, Villahermosa, Culiacán and Tijuana; with a total of 33 interconnected cities (Sub-IATAS).

“This project is being carried out in collaboration with TL Kapital, a strategic ally in the development of infrastructure to provide solutions in the cargo service,” the firm pointed out in the letter.
